Cobras Challenge Day
As a registered charity the Leicester Cobras have to continually fund raise to enable the club to continue to provide opportunities for disabled people to take part in the sport of wheelchair basketball. A fun way of fund raising is to hold a “challenge day”. This is a fun event where any business, company, organisation or group of friends can enter a team and challenge the Cobras in a short game of wheelchair basketball. The game is for fun but can be extremely competitive for some teams.
Anyone can be in your team, (they do not need to be disabled); men, women and children over 10 years old are all eligible to play. Each team must have at least 5 players and a maximum of 10 players, with only 5 players allowed on court at any one time. Every team has a photo session taken with the Cobras and photos take during their game. After the event a copy of all photo’s taken of the team are given to the team FREE OF CHARGE. Every session starts with a wheelchair basketball tutorial to get used to the chairs and to practice some skills. Specialised basketball wheelchairs are provided for your game.
We are hoping to run another Cobras Challenge Day in the future; and this is where you can really help to raise money for the club.
If you know of any group, organisation or business that might be interested in putting a team together, please contact Ian Trott, (details on the “Contacts us” page). There are only a limited amount of teams that we can play in just one day, so if you are interested its best to apply as early as possible.
The entry fee is £150 per team, with sponsorship forms available for each team member, if possible, to raise extra funds for the club.
