What is “Step Into Work”?
Steps into Work is a supported internship programme for candidates with learning disabilities. Candidates will complete an academic year of workplace learning with Remploy at our head office at Meridian East. Candidates will undertake supported internships in office-based placement across a wide variety of departments. During this period, they will complete a qualification and will be students of National Star College/Burton and South Derbys College. Individuals on the programme will not be paid a wage during this period as they will be classed as students. Anyone currently claiming Job Seekers Allowance will be required to sign off from this benefit, but those claiming Disability Living Allowance or Incapacity Benefit should still be able to claim.
When will this happen?
The project is due to start in September 2013.
Eligibility
The programme accesses Education Funding Agency funding, so to be eligible individuals needs to be 24 or under on 31st August 2013, have a disability, and have one of the following:
· an Education Health and Care plan
· an S139a Learning Difficulty Assessment
Individuals also need to live in Leicester, Leicestershire or Derby
What is the qualification?
The main qualification is in either Introduction to Customer Service or Employability and Personal Development, functional skills qualifications will be planned post-assessment.
